PRAYERS FROM THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND:

A prayer about the Coronavirus outbreak

Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress.
Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.

For those in isolation

God of compassion,
be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation.
In their loneliness, be their consolation;
in their anxiety, be their hope;
in their darkness, be their light;
through him who suffered alone on the cross,
but reigns with you in glory,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayers for those who are suffering from the illness, and for others affected, particularly

• those struggling with anxiety

• people whose livelihoods are affected

• those working in schools and hospitals, and other places where they may be exposed to infection

• those in isolation and not sure how to cope

• decision makers in government and at all levels

Also, prayers for churches who are making plans to help and support people, while cancelling events that can potentially increase the spread of the virus.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O Lord, the maker of all thing,
We pray thee now in this evening
Us to defend through thy mercy
From all deceit of our enemy.
Let neither us deluded be,
Good Lord, with dream or fantasy;
Our hearts waking in thee thou keep
That we in sin fall not on sleep.
