For Linda (My Wife)

So Friday we set off for Linda's check up at Oxford (JR). they were unhappy that Linda had been released last week without resolving the fluid retention issue. In short they found a bed and drained 8.5 ltrs of fluid. I collected her this morning and she is feeling much better.

My journey is getting tough

once more I find myself rushing to hospital and sitting at Linda's bedside

I pray for the strength to assist Linda through these difficult times

Sounds like congestive heart failure or kidney problem.
Hope you get a good specialist to discern the direction ahead for her quickly. This is something serious, and we certainly are supporting you and Linda in prayer.

Thank you all, Linda has been stabilised and and feeling ok again now. She had further tests today and they are going to carry out another drain tomorrow, the fluid drained when we were in Oxford a couple of weeks ago has returned. So a new treatment regime is being defined to try and avoid this.

Linda, has a rare liver Condition, in fact the condition was only discovered a couple of years ago, so treatments are still experimental. She needs a liver transplant and the review process for this is underway. The frequent visits to hospital are caused by side effects of both the condition and sometimes the treatments she is receiving. The problem is the conditions come on really quickly.

A quick moan, to help me feel better

Linda does not fit any government tick boxes and therefore is not eligible for any sick benefits. Moan over.

Thank you for keeping us informed Phil and I am pleased Linda is feeling a little more comfortable just now.

I know it is difficult to get past the benefits 'tick boxes' but it can be done and I know many people who have not ticked a single box but they appealed by letter with a back up letter from their GP's and eventually received the said benefit.
Do not give up on this Phil as you are entitled to it.

I'm a bit confused by the Benefits bit : it's not that long since I left work and there weren't tick boxes to claim Sickness Benefit then.

If anybody was too ill to go to work the GP - or ward sister if in hospital - signed a certificate and the only tick boxes were for the signer to say when he/she saw the patient or whether he/she was using a report from a consultant.
Don't all married women who work pay a 'full stamp' now ? I can remember when working women who paid the married woman's reduced stamp didn't get Sickness Benefit and of course housewives never were entitled to it.

For improved health and an end to anxiety over form-filling.

Livers are replaceable, but finding the donor and getting on the prefered list is a problem everywhere.
We pray Linda gets one, and soon.
And the sick benefits question, praying for a solution.
